Residential Workshop Prices and Application Process

Application Deadline is March 1, 2025


Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and the sessions may fill well before the deadline. Early application is encouraged. 


Residential workshops are designed for visual artists who have an established studio practice and scholars with previous drawing experience.


Application is required of all participants. 

Application does not guarantee acceptance.

Cañon del Rio Immersive Retreat

For practicing artists seeking the space to experiment, engage with process and material, find creative ground, and come away with a body of original artwork directly inspired by a sense of place. The retreat connects participants to the landscape of northern New Mexico, with outings to stunning geological locations, natural materials tutorials, readings, and individual conversation. This immersive retreat is guided by experimentation, quietude and discovery, with all the senses in play.

May 22 - 28, 2025 - Five full days, six evenings

$3450

Includes:

  • Workshop tuition
  • Individually-tailored feedback sessions
  • Six nights in a private single room with queen bed, private bath, and covered studio patio
  • All meals, with shared chef-prepared dinners, buffet lunches and breakfasts, snacks and desserts
  • Local transport and permit fees for field outings
  • Art materials and hand-crafted ceramic palette
  • Pre- and post-workshop Zoom sessions

Not included:

  • Transportation to Jemez Springs
  • Trip insurance (required of all participants)

Badlands Drawing Research Workshop

Designed for artists, educators and scholars who engage with drawing (as) research, this workshop combines field outings into nearby badlands, material-driven drawing experiments, studio time, and conversation about images, processes and ideas. This is space to develop or deepen an individual drawing project, connect with new colleagues, and expand the material and conceptual scope of any drawing practice. The workshop site is the rustic 100-year old Circle A Guest Ranch outside of Cuba, New Mex

May 30 - June 5, 2025 - Five full days, six evenings

Price varies based on lodging, starting at $2850

Price includes:

  • All workshop programming
  • Six nights lodging onsite in a shared or private room with shared bath (choose preference on application form).
  • All meals, with shared chef-prepared dinners, buffet lunches and breakfasts, snacks and desserts
  • Local transport and permit fees for field outings

  • Pre- and post-workshop Zoom sessions
